Crafting Your Perfect Cheesy Broccoli Chicken and Rice Bake in the Ninja Foodi

Creating this irresistible bake in your Ninja Foodi is surprisingly straightforward, thanks to a few clever techniques and the right accessories. For optimal convenience and serving, we recommend using a dedicated multi-purpose pan designed for the Ninja Foodi. This accessory allows for easy removal and presentation of your casserole, making dinner time even smoother.

Utilizing the Multi-Purpose Pan (or the Main Pot)

The multi-purpose pan is a fantastic investment for any Ninja Foodi owner. It fits seamlessly into both the 6.5-quart and 8-quart models, providing a perfect vessel for baking casseroles, lasagna, and, of course, this cheesy broccoli chicken and rice bake. Its design ensures even cooking and makes serving a breeze. If you don’t have this pan, don’t worry! You can absolutely prepare this dish directly in the main pot of your Ninja Foodi. While serving might be a tad less elegant, the delicious outcome remains the same.

One key tip for a perfectly cooked bake is to incorporate the cheese strategically. Rather than adding it from the start, we introduce the shredded cheddar during the final stages of cooking. This ensures the cheese melts beautifully, creating a golden, bubbly top without becoming overcooked or burnt. After an initial cooking period, a quick stir of the casserole helps ensure the rice is fully submerged and cooks evenly, then the cheese is added for its grand finale.

Preparing the Chicken for Your Bake

The foundation of any great chicken bake is, naturally, perfectly cooked chicken. For this Ninja Foodi Cheesy Broccoli Chicken and Rice Bake, the chicken is expertly sautéed directly in the main pot of your Ninja Foodi before being transferred to the multi-purpose pan for baking. This initial step ensures the chicken is cooked through and flavorful.

We highly recommend using boneless, skinless chicken thighs for this recipe. Chicken thighs are renowned for their rich flavor and tender texture, and they hold up exceptionally well during the baking process without drying out. This ensures every bite of your casserole is juicy and delicious.

When placing the multi-purpose pan inside the Ninja Foodi, position it on the wire rack that comes with your appliance, ensuring the handles are facing upwards. This simple detail makes it incredibly easy and safe to remove the hot dish once it’s finished cooking. Remember to always use oven mitts when handling the pan, as it will be very hot!

Notes

If you are using frozen broccoli, run hot water over it prior to cooking to defrost it. Use just the tops of it, not thick stems.

To add additional flavor, you can add more garlic salt, and cheese to the rice in this recipe as well. Instead of cream of chicken, you can also mix in some creamed cheese soup too.

Updated recipe – it’s best to put on the cheese in the final 5 minutes of cook time.

Tips for the Best Ninja Foodi Cheesy Broccoli Chicken and Rice Bake

To ensure your Ninja Foodi Cheesy Broccoli Chicken and Rice Bake turns out perfectly every time, consider these helpful tips:

Ingredient Customizations for Enhanced Flavor

  • **Broccoli Prep:** If you’re using frozen broccoli florets, it’s a good idea to run hot water over them briefly before adding them to the pan. This helps to defrost them and ensures they cook evenly. Remember to use primarily the florets and avoid overly thick stems for the best texture in your bake.
  • **Flavor Boosts:** For those who love a more intense flavor profile, don’t hesitate to adjust the seasonings. You can add extra garlic salt or other spices like onion powder or paprika to the chicken and rice layers. A pinch of black pepper also works wonders.
  • **Cheesier Delight:** While sharp cheddar is classic, feel free to experiment with other cheeses like Monterey Jack, a cheddar blend, or even a touch of smoked gouda for a different twist. Adding a bit more cheese than the recipe calls for, especially a mix-in throughout the rice layers, can create an even richer, creamier casserole.
  • **Soup Variations:** If you don’t have cream of chicken soup, or simply want to try something different, a cream of mushroom soup can offer an earthy depth. For a richer, tangier note, some even mix in a bit of cream cheese or a different “creamed” soup.

Serving Suggestions

This hearty bake is a complete meal in itself, but it pairs wonderfully with a simple side salad dressed with a light vinaigrette to cut through the richness. A side of crusty bread or garlic knots is also excellent for soaking up all the delicious creamy sauce.

Storage and Reheating

Should you be fortunate enough to have any leftovers (which is rare with this dish!), store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. To reheat, you can microwave individual portions until hot, or cover the entire casserole dish with foil and warm it in a conventional oven at 300°F (150°C) until heated through, adding a splash of milk or broth if it seems too dry.

By following these tips, you’ll be well on your way to mastering this delightful and easy Ninja Foodi recipe. Enjoy every comforting spoonful of your Cheesy Broccoli Chicken and Rice Bake!
