As the crisp air of winter fades and we step back into our daily routines, especially after a relaxing holiday break, many of us find ourselves yearning for a sense of calm and balance. The return to school and work schedules often signals a need to re-evaluate our habits, seeking ways to integrate moments of peace and deliciousness into our busy lives. For me, this journey toward a more balanced lifestyle often starts right in the kitchen, where I can create comforting treats that nourish both body and soul. This Pecan Hazelnut Bread isn’t just a recipe; it’s an invitation to slow down, savor, and enjoy the simple pleasures that make everyday life feel a little more special, particularly during a leisurely brunch.

My daily life is a vibrant tapestry of professional and personal responsibilities. Working from home on this website, coupled with various freelance assignments, means my days are anything but traditional. While it might appear that I’m a stay-at-home mom with endless free time, the reality is quite different. My workweek is full-time, often extending into unconventional hours, requiring a constant juggle between family commitments and professional deadlines. This intense pace has made me acutely aware of the importance of finding equilibrium – a harmony between work, family, and critically, dedicated time for myself. It’s a pursuit that often feels like chasing a fleeting shadow, but one that is essential for well-being.

The nature of working remotely often means that any moment when the kids are occupied or asleep becomes dedicated work time. This leaves precious little room for personal enjoyment or simply indulging in a hobby for the sheer pleasure of it, rather than turning it into content for a blog. I’ve realized that these moments of pure, unadulterated “me time” are vital for recharging and preventing burnout. The simple act of crafting something with my hands, without the pressure of documentation or sharing, is a form of therapy that I’ve deeply missed and am actively trying to reclaim. It’s about rediscovering joy in creation, apart from the digital world.

One of the most impactful strategies I’ve adopted to bring balance back into my life centers around my mornings. This year, I am making a concerted effort to establish a consistent sleep schedule, aiming to go to bed at a reasonable hour and wake up slightly earlier than my children. This precious window before the household stirs is my sanctuary, a time dedicated purely to myself. It typically involves brewing a fresh cup of coffee, often paired with a devotional reading, or simply enjoying a few quiet moments of reflection and planning for the day ahead. This deliberate act of self-care sets a positive tone, allowing me to approach the day feeling grounded and prepared, rather than immediately diving into the whirlwind of tasks.

Over the past few weeks, this morning ritual has become a cherished part of my routine. My coffee experience has been elevated by pairing it with NESTLÉ® Coffee-mate®natural bliss®, particularly the Sweet Cream flavor. I must admit, I am completely hooked! I initially harbored some skepticism, not expecting to be so taken by it, but its natural sweetness and rich creaminess were a delightful surprise. It’s genuinely good, offering a smooth and authentic taste that enhances my coffee without overpowering it. This simple addition has transformed my morning cup into a small indulgence, a moment of natural bliss that perfectly aligns with my goal of finding everyday balance.

Inspired by my newfound appreciation for the natural bliss line, I decided to incorporate one of my all-time favorite flavors – hazelnut – into a new baking project. This led to the creation of this delightful Pecan Hazelnut Bread. By using the Hazelnut flavor of NESTLÉ® Coffee-mate® natural bliss® directly in the bread batter, I achieved a perfectly balanced sweetness and a nuanced hazelnut aroma that complements the pecans beautifully. It imparted just the right amount of richness to the bread, creating a harmonious flavor profile that wasn’t overly sweet or artificial. This bread, alongside my coffee infused with Sweet Cream, provided a delightful and naturally flavored start to my day, embodying the very essence of getting “back to balance” with mindful, delicious choices.

This Pecan Hazelnut Bread recipe is an adaptation of my beloved Blueberry Crumble Muffins, a family favorite. Initially, I considered making muffins, but the idea of a loaf of bread felt much more appealing and versatile. A quick bread loaf is not only easier to prepare for a crowd but also perfect for sharing with family and friends, whether it’s for a special brunch, a thoughtful gift, or simply to enjoy throughout the week. The transformation from individual muffins to a single, substantial loaf makes it an excellent choice for meal prepping and ensures there’s always a comforting treat on hand. The crumb topping, a signature element of the original muffin recipe, translates beautifully onto the bread, adding a delightful texture and an extra layer of sweetness that truly elevates this creation.

What truly sets NESTLÉ® Coffee-mate® natural bliss® apart is its commitment to natural ingredients and incredibly delicious flavors. Free from artificial ingredients, it’s a choice you can feel good about. I easily found a wide selection of natural bliss flavors, including both Sweet Cream and Hazelnut, at our local Walmart. Their availability makes it simple to integrate these wholesome additions into my daily routine and creative baking projects. The natural quality of the creamer contributes to a more authentic and enjoyable taste, which is a key part of my “back to balance” philosophy – choosing products that are both good for me and delightfully flavorful.

Pecan Hazelnut Bread

Created by: Kristy Still

Servings: 1 loaf (8 1/2 x 4 1/2-inch loaf pan)

Ingredients

Bread Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 Cups Flour or Gluten Free All Purpose Flour
  • 3/4 Cup White Sugar
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 2 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/3 Cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/3 Cup NESTLÉ® Coffee-mate® natural bliss® Hazelnut Flavor
  • 1/2 Cup Chopped Pecans

Crumb Topping:

  • 1/2 Cup White Sugar
  • 1/3 Cup Flour or Gluten Free All Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 Cup Butter (Cubed)
  • 1 1/2 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp Chopped Pecans

Instructions

  1. Begin by pre-heating the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl or a stand mixer, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Mix these dry ingredients thoroughly.
  3. Next, add in the vegetable oil, egg, and the NESTLÉ® Coffee-mate® natural bliss® Hazelnut creamer to the dry mixture. Mix well until just combined, being careful not to overmix. Gently fold in the chopped pecans.
  4. Once the batter is ready, lightly grease and flour or spray an 8 1/2 x 4 1/2-inch loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray. Pour the bread batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  5. For the crumb topping, combine all of the topping ingredients (sugar, flour, cubed butter, ground cinnamon, and chopped pecans) in a separate bowl. Use a fork or your fingertips to cut the butter into the dry ingredients until a crumbly mixture forms.
  6. Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the top of the bread batter in the loaf pan.
  7. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the crumb topping is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the deepest part of the bread loaf comes out clean.
  8. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. If desired, sprinkle a little powdered sugar over the cooled bread for an extra touch of sweetness and presentation. Slice and serve!
