Peaches and Cream Oatmeal, Sweetened with Truvia

Sweet Beginnings: Enjoying Peaches & Cream Oatmeal with Truvia

Embarking on a journey to manage sugar intake doesn’t mean sacrificing the joy of delicious food. As someone who has navigated the challenges of gestational diabetes in a previous pregnancy, I understand the critical importance of closely monitoring sugar levels, especially during such a delicate time. This personal experience ignited my quest for healthier alternatives that could seamlessly integrate into my cooking and baking routines without compromising on taste or texture.

My exploration recently led me to discover Truvia, a natural sweetener that has truly revolutionized how I approach my favorite recipes. Derived from the stevia leaf, Truvia offers a wonderful way to enjoy sweetness with significantly fewer calories. What’s even better is its remarkable versatility: it bakes and cooks just like traditional sugar, but with a crucial difference – you only need to use half the amount! This 1:2 ratio means a drastic reduction in calories and carbohydrates, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to lighten up their diet, whether due to health concerns or simply a desire for a healthier lifestyle.

Transforming Classic Recipes with Natural Sweetness

Integrating a new ingredient into cherished family recipes can sometimes feel like a daunting task. However, my experience with Truvia has been overwhelmingly positive. Over the past week, I’ve been experimenting with Truvia as a direct replacement for sugar in several of my go-to dishes, and the results have been incredibly promising. Two particular favorites that have adapted beautifully to this natural sweetener are my indulgent Chocolate Chip Brownies and the comforting Apple Crisp. In both cases, the rich flavors and delightful textures remained perfectly intact, leading to guilt-free enjoyment for the whole family.

Beyond desserts, I was eager to explore Truvia’s potential in a breakfast staple. My household has become quite fond of homemade oatmeal in the mornings. It’s a simple, quick meal that comes together in mere minutes and yields enough servings for our small family of 2-3 people. This week, I decided to tackle a beloved morning treat: Peaches & Cream Oatmeal. The baking and cooking process with Truvia went flawlessly, resulting in a creamy, naturally sweet bowl of goodness. The ultimate test? My husband and son, who are usually quick to notice any changes in their food, couldn’t tell the difference! Mission accomplished – and my little secret remained safe.

My Truvia Shopping Experience and Product Insights

With the delicious vision of Peaches & Cream Oatmeal dancing in my head, I set off to Walmart to pick up some Truvia. Navigating the sweetener aisle can sometimes be overwhelming with the array of options available, but I quickly spotted the distinctive green packaging of Truvia. They offer various formats to suit different needs, from convenient individual packets perfect for sweetening beverages or sprinkling on cereals, to larger bags designed for baking and cooking.

Just beneath the packets, I found the Truvia Baking Blend. This blend is specifically formulated for culinary applications and is perfect for both baking and general cooking. The first thing I noticed was its size – it’s considerably smaller than typical bags of granulated sugar. This initial observation might seem surprising, but it makes perfect sense once you remember that you only need to use half the amount compared to regular sugar. This efficiency means that even a smaller bag of Truvia Baking Blend goes a long way, offering significant value and less bulk in your pantry. I confidently grabbed a bag, eager to get home and whip up my Peaches & Cream Oatmeal. For a more visual journey of my shopping trip, you can explore my album on Google+.

Crafting the Perfect Peaches & Cream Oatmeal

With my Truvia Baking Blend and other ingredients gathered, I was ready to dive into the heartwarming process of making Peaches & Cream Oatmeal. The beauty of this recipe lies not just in its simplicity and deliciousness, but also in how easily it adapts to a healthier profile with Truvia. For me, reducing sugar content is paramount, and Truvia makes this effortless.

The most satisfying aspect of preparing this Peaches & Cream Oatmeal was realizing how little sweetener I needed. Instead of the usual 1/4 cup of regular sugar, I only used a mere 1/8 of a cup of Truvia. This simple substitution offered a quick and efficient way to significantly cut down on calories without sacrificing any of the comforting sweetness we all crave. The final product tasted absolutely identical to versions made with full sugar, a testament to Truvia’s excellent performance. I even sprinkled a little extra Truvia on top before serving it warm, enhancing its delightful appeal. This recipe is a clear win for anyone seeking a wholesome, delicious, and reduced-sugar breakfast.

Peaches & Cream Oatmeal

Created by: Kristy Still

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Milk
  • 3 Tbsp Liquid Nonfat Vanilla Creamer
  • 1 1/2 Cups of Quick Cooking Oats or Certified Gluten Free Oats
  • 1/8 Cup Truvia (Compared to 1/4 Cup Regular Sugar)
  • 1/4 Cup Sliced Peaches

Instructions

  1. I started by soaking the peaches in a pinch of Truvia. I typically do this for a few hours so that some of the juices run out, making them soft and sweet.
  2. Begin by bringing the milk and creamer to a boil. Then, add in the oats and Truvia. Stir continuously for 1-2 minutes until thoroughly mixed and cooked well.
  3. Pour the prepared oatmeal into a bowl, and gently mix in the soaked peaches.
  4. I like to top it with a little extra peaches and a sprinkle of Truvia for an enhanced flavor. Serve warm!
