A Whirlwind of Joy: Welcoming Our Baby Girl and Embracing New Beginnings

This past week was nothing short of extraordinary at our house! Life took a beautiful, unexpected turn, culminating in the arrival of our precious baby girl. After a routine doctor’s visit on Wednesday morning, the universe had other plans for us. Just before midnight that same evening, we welcomed our newest family member into the world, making her grand debut on the memorable date of December 12th, 2012. She arrived with only 23 minutes left in the day, ensuring her place in history on such a unique date.

The hospitals, as one might imagine, were bustling with new life and activity. It was a busy time for everyone, but for us, her arrival, though slightly unexpected for that specific day, was nothing short of perfect. Bringing a newborn home instantly transforms your world, filling it with incredible joy, a touch of chaos, and an overwhelming sense of love. With family members eager to meet our little one, we knew our home would soon become a hub of celebration and warm greetings.

Crafting Comfort: Bigelow Tea and Moravian Tea Cookies for Cherished Moments

So, what does this wonderful chaos have to do with Bigelow Tea? As we prepared for the joyous influx of visiting family and friends, we wanted to offer them a delightful and comforting treat. Our solution was to bake a batch of homemade Moravian Tea Cookies and pair them with a selection of exquisite Bigelow Teas. These delicate cookies, with their subtle spice and hint of citrus, proved to be the ideal accompaniment for a relaxing tea time, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere for everyone to get acquainted with our beautiful baby girl.

Choosing the right refreshments was key to making our guests feel at home, especially during such a special, yet busy, period. We envisioned a spread that felt both special and effortless, allowing us to focus on the moments rather than the preparations. The combination of freshly baked cookies and a soothing cup of tea offered just that—a perfect blend of hospitality and ease, creating a memorable experience for everyone who stopped by to share in our happiness.

Effortless Hospitality: Preparing Delicious Tea Time Treats in Advance

One of the smartest decisions we made, especially with a newborn, was preparing the Moravian Tea Cookies in advance. I baked them a few days prior and kept them frozen, ready to be thawed and served at a moment’s notice. This little trick proved invaluable, as the cookies tasted just as fresh and delicious as if they had come straight from the oven. The delicate flavors and crisp texture were perfectly preserved, ensuring a delightful treat for every guest.

To complement the cookies, I carefully laid out a variety of Bigelow Tea options. From classic black teas to fragrant herbal infusions, there was a choice to suit every palate. The visual display of colorful tea boxes and the inviting aroma of freshly brewed tea created an irresistible invitation for our visitors to sit, relax, and savor the moment. This simple setup allowed us to host with grace and ease, focusing on precious family time without the added stress of last-minute preparations.

Why Bigelow Tea? A Commitment to Quality and Family Values

Choosing Bigelow Tea for this special occasion was a natural decision for several reasons. Not only does Bigelow offer an impressive variety of high-quality teas, ensuring there’s something for everyone, but it’s also a company that deeply values family. This ethos resonated strongly with us as we welcomed a new member into our own family. Sharing a comforting cup of Bigelow Tea alongside our homemade cookies felt like the perfect way to mark this significant life event.

Their commitment to crafting exceptional teas, using only the finest ingredients, means every sip is a moment of pure enjoyment. From their classic Earl Grey to their invigorating Green Tea and soothing herbal blends, Bigelow’s range allowed us to cater to diverse preferences, making our tea service truly inclusive. This attention to detail and a heartwarming family heritage made Bigelow Tea more than just a beverage; it became an integral part of our celebratory tea moment, symbolizing warmth, tradition, and togetherness.

Family Approval: A Delicious Pairing, Including Gluten-Free Delights

Our first guests to enjoy the tea and cookies were my wonderful mom. She was incredibly impressed with both, remarking on how beautifully the delicate Moravian Tea Cookies paired with her chosen tea. Her genuine delight was truly heartwarming. And, did I mention a little secret? I made these delicious cookies gluten-free! As a family, we appreciate having gluten-free options, and I wanted to ensure everyone, including myself, could fully enjoy these delightful treats. The success of the gluten-free version proved that deliciousness knows no dietary bounds.

My husband also thoroughly enjoyed testing out the tea and cookies. While he initially had a tough time choosing from the tempting array of Bigelow Teas, he ultimately settled on a refreshing lemon herbal tea. This choice was particularly fitting, as our Moravian Tea Cookies themselves have a subtle hint of lemon, creating a harmonious flavor profile that delighted his taste buds. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying these simple, yet profoundly comforting, pleasures amidst the excitement of our new family chapter.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup Butter, softened
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 1/2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 Tsp Lemon Extract
  • 3 Cups All Purpose Flour or Gluten Free All Purpose Flour
  • 2 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 3/4 Tsp Ground Nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Cream butter in a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, then gradually add in all remaining ingredients until well combined.
  2. At this point, I recommend letting the dough chill for 1-2 hours in the fridge. This makes it easier to handle and improves the cookie texture.
  3. Roll the chilled dough to 1/8 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Use your favorite cookie cutters to cut out shapes. Place the cut cookies about 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet.
  4. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 8 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned.
  5. Cool the baked cookies on wire racks completely.
  6. This recipe yields about 5 dozen cookies, perfect for sharing!
  7. Before serving, sprinkle with additional nutmeg and cinnamon for an extra touch of flavor and aroma. Enjoy!
