Score Big with Snickers Cupcakes in a Jar: The Ultimate Game Day Dessert!
As the crisp autumn air signals the return of football season, it also heralds the beginning of spirited gatherings, tailgating festivities, and an irresistible array of sweet treats and savory snacks. While the roar of the crowd and strategic plays on the field might not capture everyone’s full attention, the kitchen often becomes the heart of the celebration for many of us. I find immense joy in crafting delicious dishes and desserts that bring smiles to faces, especially during these lively occasions. This past weekend, I decided to elevate our game day spread with a new, incredibly fun, and utterly delectable creation: Snickers Cupcakes in a Jar, featuring the iconic SNICKERS® Brand NFL Minis. What could be more fitting for a football watching party than cupcakes infused with the spirit of the game?

The Perfect Game Day Treat: Why Snickers Cupcakes in a Jar Are a Must-Try
Imagine the classic, satisfying combination of chocolate, caramel, nougat, and peanuts, now reimagined into a portable, perfectly portioned cupcake. That’s precisely what these Snickers Cupcakes in a Jar offer. They’re more than just a dessert; they’re an experience, especially when rooting for your favorite team. The convenience of serving individual desserts in jars makes them an absolute MVP for any gathering, eliminating the need for plates and extra utensils, and simplifying cleanup. Plus, who can resist a treat that combines two beloved indulgences: cupcakes and Snickers candy?
A Sweet Tradition for Football Season Gatherings
For many, football season isn’t just about the sport; it’s about community, camaraderie, and, of course, the food. It’s a time when family and friends gather, making memories over shared laughter and delicious bites. These easy Snickers cupcakes contribute perfectly to that festive atmosphere. They’re not only a conversation starter but also a comforting reminder of classic flavors, updated with a fun, modern presentation. Whether you’re hosting a large crowd or a small group, these jar desserts are guaranteed to be a hit, impressing your guests with both their taste and unique charm.
Gathering Your Ingredients: The Stars of the Show
My dessert-making adventure began with a trip to Walmart, the perfect place to find the essential star of this recipe: the SNICKERS® Brand NFL Minis! These special football-themed minis add an extra layer of excitement and thematic flair to the cupcakes. I easily located them in a prominent center aisle, showcased within a vibrant NFL display. Grabbing a generous bag for my cupcakes, I eagerly headed home, ready to transform these chocolatey delights into an unforgettable treat.

Having all your ingredients readily available before you start baking can make the process much smoother and more enjoyable. It saves time and ensures you don’t miss a step. Here’s a glimpse of the delicious components I gathered:

Crafting Your Snickers Cupcakes: Step-by-Step Perfection
Preparing the Snickers Infusion
The first step in infusing these cupcakes with that irresistible Snickers flavor is to prepare the candy minis. I started by processing a generous portion of the SNICKERS® Brand NFL Minis. Following a ratio of approximately one mini per cupcake, I used 24 minis, which I placed into a food processor. The goal is to chop them into fine, delectable chocolate pieces. As the processor works its magic, the Snickers will break down, forming a delightful mix of chocolate, caramel, and nuts. Once processed, these flavorful morsels are ready to be folded into the cupcake batter, ensuring every bite is bursting with Snickers goodness. This technique allows the candy to melt slightly during baking, creating pockets of gooey delight throughout the cupcake.

Baking Brilliance in Jars
For baking, I opted for 24 individual 4 oz jelly jars, similar to these convenient Walmart Kerr Quilted Crystal Jars. Before filling, a quick spray with non-stick cooking spray ensures your cupcakes will slide out easily, or be enjoyed directly from the jar. Fill each jar about halfway to two-thirds full with the Snickers-infused cupcake batter. This allows room for the cupcakes to rise without overflowing and leaves space for the luscious toppings. The genius of baking in jars cannot be overstated; it provides perfect single servings, making them incredibly easy for your football guests to enjoy. Not only do they look charming, but they also simplify cleanup dramatically – no more messy cupcake liners or scattered crumbs!

Whipped Cream & Caramel Drizzle: The Grand Finale
Once your cupcakes have cooled, it’s time for the crowning glory: a generous dollop of homemade whipped cream. Light, airy, and delicately sweet, it perfectly complements the rich Snickers cupcake. Of course, the indulgence doesn’t stop there! I layered on more SNICKERS® Brand NFL Minis, sliced thinly to create beautiful toppers, and finished with a decadent drizzle of caramel syrup. The combination of textures and flavors – fluffy cake, creamy topping, crunchy Snickers, and sticky caramel – is simply divine. It’s a symphony for the taste buds that will leave your guests reaching for more. And yes, a little taste-testing is always part of the process – sometimes a few (or more than a few!) vanish before the party even begins, but rest assured, there will still be plenty for everyone to enjoy!

Why Jar Desserts Are a Game Changer for Parties
Serving desserts in jars has become incredibly popular, and for good reason! This method offers a multitude of benefits that make entertaining a breeze, especially for dynamic events like football parties or casual get-togethers. Firstly, portability is unmatched. Guests can easily grab a jar and move around, whether they’re socializing indoors, cheering on the patio, or even heading out for a tailgating experience. There’s no need to worry about plates, forks, or sticky fingers, as each dessert is a self-contained unit of deliciousness.
Secondly, jar desserts are a dream for portion control. Each guest receives a perfectly sized cupcake, minimizing waste and ensuring everyone gets a fair share of the indulgence. This also makes it easier to track how many servings you have. Furthermore, the visual appeal of cupcakes layered in clear glass jars is undeniable. They look rustic, charming, and professionally made, adding an extra touch of sophistication to your dessert table without any extra effort on your part. You can easily see the layers of cake, whipped cream, and Snickers, making them even more enticing.
Finally, the freshness factor is significantly enhanced. When sealed, these cupcakes stay moist and delightful for longer, making them ideal for preparing in advance. This is a huge advantage for busy hosts who want to enjoy their own party without being stuck in the kitchen. The jars also provide a cleaner eating experience, reducing spills and drips, which is always a bonus when you have a lively crowd.
Tips for Success & Delicious Variations
To ensure your Snickers Cupcakes in a Jar turn out perfectly every time, consider these helpful tips. When processing the Snickers Minis, make sure not to over-process them into a paste; you want small, discernible chunks for texture. If you’re using a box cake mix, always follow the package instructions for liquid and egg amounts to achieve the best consistency. For the homemade whipped cream, ensure your heavy cream, bowl, and whisk attachment are very cold – this significantly aids in achieving stiff peaks. If you’re short on time, a high-quality store-bought whipped cream or even a buttercream frosting can serve as a suitable alternative, though homemade always has a special touch.
Storage and Serving Suggestions
Because these cupcakes are topped with fresh whipped cream, it’s best to serve them immediately or keep them refrigerated until just before your guests arrive. This prevents the whipped cream from melting, especially if your party is held in a warmer environment. For transport, keeping the jars upright and cool will maintain their pristine presentation. These make excellent take-home favors too; simply add a lid and a decorative ribbon for a thoughtful touch.
Customizing Your Cupcakes
While the Snickers version is phenomenal, don’t hesitate to get creative! You could try other chocolate bar minis like Milky Way, Mars, or Twix for different flavor profiles. For a nut-free option, simply omit the Snickers and use chocolate chips or a candy bar without nuts. If you’re catering to dietary restrictions, a gluten-free chocolate cake mix works beautifully, as do many Snickers products (though always double-check labels for specific intolerances, as I do for my own gluten-free diet). Experiment with different drizzles, like chocolate fudge or peanut butter sauce, to further personalize these delightful jar desserts.
Beyond Game Day: The Versatility of Snickers Jar Desserts
While these Snickers Cupcakes in a Jar are a natural fit for football season, their charm and convenience extend far beyond game day. They are perfect for birthdays, potlucks, picnics, school events, or even as a unique gift. Their individual packaging makes them ideal for any situation where you want to offer a delightful and easy-to-manage dessert. Imagine them as part of a dessert bar at a wedding shower or baby shower, or simply as a special treat for a quiet evening at home. The possibilities are truly endless, proving that a little creativity can transform a simple concept into a versatile culinary triumph.

As I was busy crafting these irresistible football treats, my little man was outside, eagerly learning how to throw the football with his dad. It’s moments like these – family, food, and fun – that truly define the season for us. It’s officially football season at our house, in every delicious way imaginable!
Enjoy creating and savoring these delightful treats!

Snickers Cupcakes in a Jar
Ingredients
- 1 (40 oz) Bag of SNICKERS® Brand NFL Minis
- 1 Box Chocolate Cake Mix (or Gluten Free Chocolate Cake Mix)
- Eggs (Use amount on box cake mix)
- Oil (Use amount on box cake mix)
- 1/2 Pint Heavy Whipping Cream
- 4 Tbsp Powdered Sugar
- 1/4 Tsp Vanilla Extract
- Caramel Syrup for Drizzle
- 24 (4 Oz) Jars (Half Pint Size)
- Serving: 24 Cupcakes
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
Begin by using a food processor or blender to finely chop 24 Snickers Minis. Set Aside.
-
In a large bowl or using a stand mixer, prepare all cake mix ingredients according to package directions, then fold in the processed Snickers Minis.
-
Once the batter is well mixed, spray the jars with non-stick cooking spray and fill each approximately 1/2 to 2/3 full.
-
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.
-
While the cupcakes are cooling, whisk together the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. This works best with a stand mixer on high speed.
-
Using a cake decorating bag with a Wilton 1M tip (or simply a spoon), pipe or dollop whipped cream generously onto each cooled cupcake.
-
Slice additional Snickers Minis into quarters and arrange them on top of the whipped cream, then drizzle with caramel syrup.
-
These cupcakes should be served immediately or kept refrigerated to prevent the whipped cream from melting.
-
Note: I am gluten-free and have found Snickers to be safe for consumption. If you have specific dietary restrictions, please ensure all ingredients, including the candy, align with your needs. Replace with your favorite chocolate candy if Snickers is not suitable.
